Visitors will get the rare opportunity to view the spectacular Grade I listed St Georges Hall in all of its remarkable glory, as its famous Minton Floor Reveal returns from Thursday 1 August – Monday 26 August 2019.

Minton Tile Floor Reveal
Among the world’s finest examples of an encaustic tiled floor, the handcrafted mosaic of more than 30,000 tiles were concealed in the 1860s to allow dancing and events at the prestigious venue.
The intricate and exquisite patterned tiled flooring depict the Liver Birds, the Roman god Neptune, sea nymphs, dolphins and tridents in what was the largest Minton pavement in the world when first constructed.
The Hall will be open daily from 10.00am-5.00pm* (last entry 4.30pm) where visitors will be able to view Liverpool’s hidden gem and gaze again at the site of the Great Hall in all its original grandeur.
*Except Thursday 1 August, when the floor will be open from 11.00am. Please note, The floor will also be unavailable to view on Monday 19 August.

Walk the Floor Tours
During this exclusive tour, visitors can walk over 30,000 Minton tiles, learning about their history and status, while seeing The Great Hall in it’s true glory.
Our ‘Walk the Floor’ tours will run from 10am-11am and 4pm-5pm*.
*Except for Thursday 1 August, when tours will just run from 4.00pm-5.00pm. Please note, The tours will also be unavailable to view on Monday 19 August.

Music on the Mintons
Organist to the City of Liverpool, Professor Ian Tracey, will be joined by award-winning Mezzo Soprano, Danielle Louise Thomas (pictured above), in a show-stopping concert on Sunday 4 August. During this performance, the Minton Tiles will take centre stage and will be adorned by candle-lit lanterns on what is sure to be a magical evening.
A bar will be available on the evening, with a range of refreshments and alcoholic beverages on sale.

Night on the Tiles

And now, you can enjoy a “Night on the Tiles” from 6.00pm-9.00pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays between Thursday 1 August and Saturday 24 August. Guests will be able to enjoy the rare privilege of being able to walk on the world heritage site floor whilst enjoying a free glass of fizz. There will also be a cash bar available.
