Guided Tours at St George’s Hall

UPDATE

Please note: Due to the new restrictions from government relating to Covid-19 (announced Thursday 1 October 2020), it is with a heavy heart that we have had to cancel all Guided Tours up until further notice.

All ticket buyers will be notified by Ticket Quarter, and will automatically be granted a full refund. Once our Guided Tours become available again, we will update this section of our website and announce via newsletter and socials.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding during these unprecedented times.

Join our knowledgeable guides on an incredible journey through the history and architecture of one of the finest neoclassical buildings in the world; St George’s Hall.

You will experience the extremes of Liverpool life with a visit to the prison cells, the imposing court rooms and the splendour of the biggest classical reception room in the UK; the Great Hall. This vast and splendid space is 169ft long, 77ft wide, and 82ft to the crown of the ornate barrel-vaulted ceiling. Adorned with statues of historic figures and illuminated by pretty chandeliers, this grand room also houses the Willis Organ, which was the largest in the country at the time that it was created.

Then, you will experience the breathtaking beauty of the ornate Concert Room with its opulent crystal chandelier and walls lined with Goddess-like statues, all decorated in gentle tones of cream, white, honey and gold. The Concert Room once hosted Penny readings by Charles Dickens, and he described his performance area as the “most perfect room in the world”.

All tours are pre-booked via Ticket Quarter and are restricted to 10 people each tour.

Our tour guides will wear a face shield and the wearing of face coverings is now compulsory for visitors, in line with government guidelines. If you have any medical documentation which makes you exempt from wearing a face covering, please provide this upon entry.

All areas of the Hall are regularly cleaned throughout the day and there are sanitising stations located at all entrances.

Please take care of yourself and others by keeping a safe distance apart from those in the tour group who do not live within your household or support bubble.
