Educational tours

Exterior St George

St George’s Hall is a fantastic Grade 1 listed building with a famous judicial and architectural history. Guided educational tours can be tailored to cover specific topics. We also have a standard programme covering a range of subjects. You can choose to:

  • Walk in the footsteps of prisoners through the holding cells to the courts. 
  • Find out what it was like to be a prisoner and about the harsh sentences issued to children.
  • Discover the first ventilation system in the world - so successful that it was copied in the House of Commons.
  • Explore the imposing Crown Court where 135 people were condemned to death.
  • View the Great Hall where lavish balls and dinners are held.

We also have a variety of different learning and activity spaces including an Educational suite and a lunch area. The Hall is open free of charge Tuesday to Sunday 10am – 4pm.

Resources

Our inspirational educational resources, produced by LA Advance Skills Teachers, are adaptable for all key stages. You can choose from a range of topics including: Art and Design, ICT, Literacy, and mystery trails and quizzes in a range of modern foreign languages.

Facilities

St George’s Hall is fully accessible with toilets and lifts to all floors.
